Darth Vader Tribute Piece

Post  JAY on Wed Sep 24, 2008 12:44 am

Not much kaiju enthusiasts here on the boards but, I thought I'd share this anyways.

This is "Gorilla Punch" by Anraku Ansaku---one of the most brilliant but enigmatic artists whose behind some of the most exciting characters in the Japanese soft vinyl world. He's also one of my favorites.

This Gorilla Punch is the (Darth) Vader version--very hard to track down. I heard most of the Vader tributes that Anraku made were to be given to close friends only. Most of Anraku's pieces have a run of 30 or less. This particular one cost me a bit actually.

This is also for the Star Wars fans. Enjoy!

Download ka lng PhotoFiltre. Hahaha! It doesn't have "layers" though like Adobe Photoshop. Pero for basics like crop and resize, ok na yun. Razz

This is so nice to have it in hand. Its around 6 inches tall. Medyo mahal.hehe.

Ang novelty ng mga works ni ANRAKU--yung uniqueness ng characters at 'punk' approach niya sa mga designs niya. Very well informed, old skool feel. High quality pieces at a very, very low run. Parang he produces to hardcore fans lang and he has a "list" of people he constantly contacts for his pieces, halos alam niya kung sino ang mga collectors niya.

Here is a link of a short catalogue (not complete) of some of his works. He's an animator by the way--his real bread and butter, pero like I said, very mysterious itong mamang ito. He doesn't like publicity and very little known about him. Click on the white katakana/kanji on the left.
